Classes and Support

Thanks to new treatments and discoveries like those available at Ingalls, more people are surviving cancer every year. But we also recognize that, along with the physical challenges of fighting cancer, there is an emotional toll . . . for patients, friends and family.

As a comprehensive cancer care center, Ingalls addresses all of your needs . . . physical, emotional and spiritual. In our Cancer Resource Center, you'll find an entire library of helpful materials on cancer. We also bring you the resources and services of national support organizations like Y-ME for women affected by breast cancer, Us TOO for men touched by prostate cancer, and the local chapters of the American Cancer Society for extensive education and support services.

Jennifer S. Fallick Cancer Support Center
Ingalls also actively partners with the Jennifer S. Fallick Cancer Support Center in Homewood and Mokena to bring free programs of support and wellness to our cancer patients and their families. The centers offer professionally designed programs by licensed clinical therapists who specialize in cancer care. Programs help the cancer patient, their children and their loved ones manage stress, facilitate communication, network and share with other survivors and learn to live better to maintain the best quality of life during and after a cancer diagnosis. Participants can choose from individual counseling, support groups, and exercise and wellness programs. Programs are centrally located in Homewood and Mokena. For more information, contact the Center at 708/798-9171 or visit the website at www.cancersupportcenter.org.

Other support services
Other programs which complement our cancer treatment include massage therapy, acupuncture, nutritional counseling, and fatigue-fighting services at Ingalls Wellness Center in Homewood; and pain management services at our Ingalls Family Care Center in Flossmoor. Depending on your needs, home care and hospice services - as well as palliative care through our Bridge program - are also available.

And, for all newly diagnosed patients, Ingalls offers a complementary reference book, "Guiding You Through Cancer," that offers pages of helpful information, answers commonly asked questions and provides a special calendar to chart cancer treatments and procedures. With Ingalls, you're never alone in your fight against cancer.
