Cancer Care
Clinical Trials
You'll be glad to know that Ingalls is affiliated with more cancer research programs and clinical trials than any other cancer program in the south suburbs. That means our patients can participate in the same cancer research being conducted at large university hospitals - without having to travel far from home.
Ready access to clinical trials is an opportunity for patients to receive new, potentially more effective therapies, including medications not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Because Ingalls is recognized as a leader in cancer research, we are now able to offer our patients Phase I clinical trials in addition to Phase II and III trials. In fact, Ingalls was a lead institution on a Phase I study with the latest oral targeted therapy for first-line treatment of metastatic breast cancer. Typically, Phase I and II clinical studies are available only at academic medical centers.
Funding and Special Events
Ingalls Cancer Clinical Trials program is partially funded through the generous support of the Irwin Family Foundation, the
Kadet Cancer Foundation and other gifts from individuals and corporations. Take a look at photos from our 2009 Fall into Fashion cancer research fundraiser.
