Volunteer Opportunities

At Ingalls, we value our ability to help the South Suburban community with health and wellness services. In return, our neighbors help us by donating their time.

For nearly 60 years, area residents have volunteered at Ingalls. In any given year, people donate over 44,000 hours of their time in a wide range of activities. Some volunteer opportunities currently open include:

Emergency Department Escort

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of the Emergency Room, the Emergency Department Escort is responsible for escorting patients throughout the hospital and performing various services for patients and staff members as required.

Endoscopy

Under the direct supervision of the Endoscopy Department, the Endoscopy Volunteer is responsible for signing in patients and notifying staff of their arrival, also performing various services for patients and staff members as required.

Food & Nutrition

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Food & Nutrition, the Food & Nutrition Department Volunteer is responsible for helping with the upkeep of the cafeteria, and the coffee makers for each nursing unit waiting room. Assist with stocking materials and perform various services for patients and staff members as required.

Gift Shop

Under the direct supervision of the Gift Shop Manager, the Gift Shop Department Volunteer is responsible for serving as a cashier, assisting with stock, the upkeep of the gift shop and performing various services for patients and staff members as required.

Greeter

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Volunteer Services, the Greeter Volunteer is responsible for cheerfully & professionally greeting everyone that comes through the doors, providing great customer service by helping with patients general needs and performing various services for patients and staff members as required.

ICOR

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of ICOR, the ICOR Volunteer is responsible for assisting with the preparation of charts and performing various services for patients and staff members in the Rehabilitation Department as required.
